It turns into these massive, nasty clumps called fatbergs - especially when mixed with things like ‘flushable’ wipes (which aren’t truly flushable… I mean, they flush - but so does anything smaller than a shoe, they just don’t disintegrate)…

These things are a huge pain - cities spend billions just trying to clear them out.

The Solution? A Super-Smart Coating

Think of it like a non-stick pan but for sewer pipes. This new zinc coating:

• Stops 80% of the gunk from sticking

• Can repair itself (like your skin when you get a scratch!)

• Handles super-hot temperatures

The Best Part?

It actually works! When they tested it, pipes with the coating had 30% less buildup than regular ones. Plus, unlike the old solutions, it doesn't make things worse (which was a problem before🤦‍♀️).

The team's already working on making it even better, plus they're developing special grease traps for restaurants.
